Church Community

 

Adult Bible Study

Study the Bible in small-group discussion format with a question/answer period at the end of class with the whole group. Every participant receives their own materials to study through the week before coming to class. Parishioners serve as group discussion leaders.

Centering Prayer Group

Develops contemplative prayer as a means of entering into a deeper relationship with God through Holy Scripture. Meets each Wednesday at 4 P.M. in the home of Rosemary Hardy.

Communion Calls

Communion is taken, upon request, every Tuesday and Friday mornings to shut-ins, Kirby Hospital and the nursing home. Please call if you are aware of anyone who could benefit from this.

Fall Festival

Annual social event and great family fun day. Many volunteers are needed to have a successful festival. Helpers are needed for setup, food preparation, bonfire, games and cleanup.

Finance Council

Assists the Pastor and Trustees on parish financial matters. Volunteers mary inform the Pastor of their desire to serve.

Funeral Dinner Committee

Organizes preparation and serving of a meal in the church hall to family and friends of the deceased following a funeral. Volunteers to prepare a meal always appreciated.

Grounds Committee

Maintains and improves the outdoor spaces around the church. Activities include spring and fall cleanup (first Saturday after May 15th and second Saturday after Thanksgiving) and planting and maintaining flower beds and shrubs. You can participate by calling the contact persons or showing up for the work days published in the church bulletin.

Prayer Chain

Supports members of the parish by responding to requests for specific prayers. Requests are kept confidential. Approximately 60 parishioners are members, which is divided into five subchains for communication ease.

Pro-Life Committee

Encourages respect for all life through participation in Pennies for Life, Life Chain, attendance at the Annual Dinner for Life, as well as other activities.

Religious Education Board

Helps teachers and families educate the children of the parish in the Catholic faith. Assists the Religious Education Coordinator in setting up and monitoring religious education classes and other sacramental events. Teach or serve as a helper in CCD classes

Community Action

Piatt County food bank. Please leave non-perishable food in the kitchen the first of the month.

Confirmation Ministry

Prepares Freshman and Sophomore students for full initiation into the faith through Confirmation. Helpers can assist by being parish sponsors, group discussion leaders or assist the coordinator in a variety of other ways.

Faith in Action (FIA)

Designed to be the helping hands and hearts of residents of Piatt and Dewitt counties, an outreach program primarily assisting senior citizens by visiting, making minor repairs, providing transportation etc.

Liturgical ministry

Lead the assembly in the Liturgy of the Word on Sunday or weekdays (Lector), serve as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Server, Usher or Sacristan (setting up for/cleaning up after Mass). Assist with alter server training. Help coordinate Saturday adoration of the Eucharist or commit to an hour of adoration.

Maintenance Committee

Maintain the church building in such ways as cleaning windows, repairing walls, pews, doors, cleaning carpets, etc. They meet on the first Saturday of the month at 1:00 p.m. Volunteers are invited to join the group by showing up at the monthly work session.

Parish Library

Offering reference and loan volumes. Located in the overflow. Simply return your selection in a timely fashion.

Parish Pastoral Council

Consultative body with the pastor providing vision and direction for our parish. Please share your hopes and dreams with us.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Brings new people into full communion with the Church. Parish team members assist the pastor in introducing candidates, through a variety of ways, into the full life of the Church. Parish sponsors are also needed each year to accompany candidates through their spiritual journey toward Easter.

Senior Group

Unites Senior members of the parish both spiritually and socially. Potluck dinners and informational programs are held in the parish hall every month September through June. Members are active in the parish and the community in a variety of ways (i.e. Prayer Chain, funeral dinners, Nursing Home, Faith in Action, First Friday Coffee, etc.)

Youth Ministry

Open to parish high school freshmen through seniors for teaching and fellowship. Core sessions are held once a month.
